Large-scale palm kernel oil pressing

Large-scale palm kernel oil pressing is a highly automated, fully equipped continuous production line. Its core processes revolve around three main stages: raw material pretreatment, pressing for oil extraction, and preliminary crude oil processing. It can achieve 24-hour continuous production, significantly improving pressing efficiency and oil quality. The specific process and key equipment are as follows:

Pretreatment Stage

Raw Material Separation and Cleaning:Large-scale factories primarily process palm kernels from the pressed cake after palm fruit pulp extraction. First, a fiber-shell separator and a kernel-shell separator sequentially separate the fibers from the palm kernel shell, obtaining initially purified palm kernels. Then, a vibrating cleaning screen removes impurities, a magnetic separator adsorbs metal debris, and a gravity separator separates stones and other heavy impurities to prevent subsequent equipment damage.

Crushing and Softening: Palm kernels are hard and need to be crushed into 6-8 pieces by a roller crusher to increase the surface area for easier oil extraction. Afterward, they are sent to a softening pot to adjust the internal moisture content and enhance the plasticity of the palm kernels, preparing them for subsequent rolling.

Preparation Stage: Rolling and Steaming: The crushed palm kernels are rolled into thin sheets less than 0.5mm thick using a drum-type rolling mill, completely destroying the cell structure. They are then fed into a 5-6 layer steaming pan, where steam heating adjusts the temperature and moisture content of the sheets to the standard for pressing, typically to 104-110℃, with moisture content controlled at around 3%. This reduces oil viscosity and facilitates oil extraction.

Oil Extraction Stage: The pre-treated palm kernel sheets are fed into a specialized palm kernel screw oil press. This press uses a wear-resistant alloy steel screw adapted to the hardness of palm kernels and features an automated control system that continuously and evenly applies pressure. During pressing, oil seeps out through the screen holes, while the pressed cake is discharged from the head. The discharged cake has a low residual oil content, and the cake or its residue can be further processed; for example, the palm kernel shells can be used as fuel.

Initial processing stage of crude palm kernel oil: Freshly pressed crude palm kernel oil contains fine oil residue and other impurities, requiring fine filtration using a leaf filter or plate and frame filter to remove solid impurities. To obtain directly usable finished oil, the filtered crude oil must then enter a refining production line, undergoing processes such as degumming, deacidification, bleaching, and deodorization to finally obtain refined palm kernel oil that meets market standards.

In addition, the entire large-scale production line also needs to be equipped with auxiliary equipment such as bucket elevators, conveyors, crude oil tanks, and oil transfer tanks to ensure the smooth transport and temporary storage of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products. Its daily processing capacity can reach 10-30 tons, meeting the needs of large-scale production.
